A CLOTHES PORTRAIT – Notes on Fashion Photography plays with visualisations between chance and concept, as well as a combination thereof with illustration, whose surface in turn makes the model’s passion and sensitivity stand out dramatically.
The written work consists of a collection of chronicles from the fields of fashion-photography and art, which serves as a base for the topic’s artistic implementation.
In terms of content I mainly focus on the fields of fashion, commissioned work and art, which deal with aesthetics in certain ways the construction of feminity.
The garment itself moves into the background – the model is not awarded the position of being a „projection surface“ for fashion, which should be bought and sold. Instead the image structure implies to hold a balance between fashion and art.
The perspectives and chosen details, the gestures and chromaticity of the pictures evoke the asthetics. The level of interaction defines the role of „taking notice“. It reflects a „capturing“ of a given atmosphere, of poses and predominant motions in the studio. The drawings have been freely realised by the artist I have chosen.
The illustrations are deliberately not dominant. Instead they provide the work with a certain lightness and magic – as an artistic element – and create an area of tension, a synergy, which creates the space for the photography.
